Melon Punch Recipes

Enjoy the refreshing tasty beverages of fresh watermelon and cantaloupe. Summer is the best time to find fresh produce at the farmers market or grow it yourself. Melons are a healthy sweet treat, full of vitamins and nutrients.

Punch is good for any season or gathering. The punch bowl adds a touch of class to any party.

Don't settle for soda pop, coffee, or high sugar syrupy drink mix. Your body will thank you. Sit back with a glass of Champagne Melon Punch or one of the other recipes below and relax your day away.

Ingredients:

4 cups chopped champagne melon with seeds removed

1/2 cup orange juice

1/2 cup lemon juice

1/2 cup caster sugar

1 slice strawberry or sliced oranges

Directions:

1. Place chopped melon, juices and sugar in blender.

2. Blend until smooth.

3. Refrigerate covered for several hours.

4. Serve topped with strawberry or orange slices.

Makes 1 Servings

Note: champagne melon is similar to a watermelon. They have a sweet and refreshing taste. slightly oval in shape, with pale-green skin, striped with darker green. Their flesh is a pale golden color, with a crisp texture like that of watermelon, and medium-sized black seed. If a champagne melon can not be found, a watermelon can be used as a substitute.

Ingredients:

4 cups cubed and chilled cantaloupe

3 cups chilled pineapple juice

2 cups chilled orange juice

2 Tablespoon lime juice

2 Tablespoon lemon juice

Maraschino cherries

Orange slices

Directions:

1. Blend cantaloupe in blender until smooth.

2. Pour into a punch bowl.

3. Stir in the juices.

4. Garnish with cherry and orange slices.

Makes about 7 1/2 cups.

Ingredients:

1 chilled watermelon

1 can frozen concentrated lemon juice

1 can frozen concentrated orange juice

1 large bottle ginger ale

Crushed ice

Directions:

1. Cut oblong hole in top of watermelon.

2. Scoop out watermelon meat.

3. Remove seeds, mash half of watermelon meat.

4. Mix watermelon, juice, ginger ale and crushed ice in blender.

5. Pour in watermelon rind hulled out which is used as a punch bowl.
